Wh@t's in @ N@me?

A Chinese couple wants to name their son @ .

Yes, @.

As a teacher, I've encountered plenty of attempts at creative naming. Cassius Clay, Geddy Lee, and Nichole Sixx were a few fanatical names given to my students, but at least they were actual names. And actual words. @ is a symbol, and when pronounced and used in English, it's a preposition - and a pretty common one at (see!) that. If this kid ever visits the US, he'll end up with whiplash from thinking people are calling him from all directions.

He's an infant. Give him a name (preferably a word) and give him time. When he's an adult, an enslaved Chinese rock star perhaps, he'll choose to create his own iconic identity, like this regal fellow...

...but even he went back to his word name. (Which, yes, is also odd, but again, it's a word!)

C'mon people! Have some sense or don't have children!

I think it is kick ass that you found the Prince symbol! What font is that?

Actually, I copied & pasted it from Wikipedia. If you click on it, it will take you to the site to read all about the name change.
